FEB UI Undergraduate Accounting Student Team Won 1st Place in Tax Video Competition<\/strong><\/p>\n

DEPOK – (30\/10\/2020) <\/strong>The student team of S1 Accounting Study Program class of 2017, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas\u00a0 Indonesia, won 1st place in the Tax Video Competition organized by the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) together with the Indonesian Accountants Association (IAI), with participants from all over Indonesia.<\/p>\n

The online announcement of winners, on Friday (30\/10\/2020) was conducted in conjunction with the Online Tax Corner: Recent Developments of International Taxation on the Digital Economy via Zoom by IAI. The team of undergraduate FEB UI Accounting students who were successfully awarded 1st place consisted of Kennard Edbert Adigunawan, Ainun Nisa Fitri, and Geraldo Kurniawan.<\/p>\n

Participants came from 121 universities, such as UPN Veteran Jakarta, Majalengka University, Widyatama University, Batam State Polytechnic, Maranatha Christian University Bandung, Gunadarma University, Jakarta State University, Tarumanegara University, and Kwik Kwian Gie University (Top 10 Finalists). Students who participated in this event are active students (student category), submitting tax inclusion videos with several themes and a maximum duration of 5 minutes.<\/p>\n

The video that was submitted by the FEB UI team in this event was about tax inclusion in terms of the role of taxes in the Indonesian State Budget, supported by data from the Ministry of Finance, DDTC (Danny Darussalam Tax Center), and some online news. The video explains the role of taxes used by the government to build\u00a0 prosperity through government spending. Taxes are an important component, because it is the largest contributor to state revenue that can be used by the government in financing government expenditures.<\/p>\n

In addition, the team also discussed the importance of paying taxes during the\u00a0 pandemic, because government spending is experiencing a significant increase, so that taxes can contribute to helping tackle Covid-19. The team also informed us that the calculation of the allocation of tax money that we pay to the APBN can be seen on the Ministry of Finance website.<\/p>\n

Kennard said \u201cI am very happy with this achievement, because at the time of the pandemic, our team was not in the same location, so it was quite\u00a0 a challenge. With excellent communications, we could\u00a0 still give our\u00a0 best. In the future, our team will disseminate this work in other competitions, so that tax inclusion in Indonesia can increase through our creative videos. Hopefully the public will be moved to pay taxes, and UI students will be more open\u00a0 to participate in competitions under any conditions. “<\/p>\n

Ainun Nisa Fitri, continued \u201cFirst, I didn’t expect it, because seeing that the other participants were\u00a0 also very good. Second, I am\u00a0 grateful, because it turns out that the results of our\u00a0 hard work starting from writing scripts, taking videos, editing, looking for views, and likes have finally paid off. What is clear is that none of this could have happened without the support of many parties.”<\/p>\n

Geraldo Kurniawan, added, “I am very happy to be a participant of the best video. This is a very valuable experience and I hope this video is really useful and supports tax inclusion in Indonesia. “<\/p>\n

The video of the competition results is expected to be of benefit in education about tax inclusion which can be done through many channels. With the increasing number of cell phone and internet users, people will prefer to watch videos rather than read articles or books. Participating in this competition is a matter of pride for each team participant, because they have contributed to improving education about tax inclusion in Indonesia. (hjtp)<\/p>\n
