On 7th Februrary, FEB UI invited Prof. Mandar Oak, Ph.D to deliver his study about Informative Lobbying and Agenda Control in a Public Lecture. Prof. Mandar Oak is an Associate Professor and the Head of School in the School of Economics at University of Adelaide, Australia.
The Public lecture took place in the 4th Floor of the Pascasarjana Building. The Host of this event is Program Pascasarjana Ilmu Ekonomi (PPIE) FEB UI
The public lecture started by an introducing speech by Bapak Vid Adrison, Ph.D as the moderator and the Deputy Head of PPIE FEB UI and then Prof. Mandar Oak, Ph.D delivered the lecture that mainly discuss about the act of lobbying which means attempting to influence decisions made by officials in the government outside the formal sector of politics and economics; election and market.
Lobbying is usually done by special interest groups. Lobbying also can lead to the practice of “buying policy” or transmiting information from more informed group to the less informed group.
Prof. Mander Oak, Ph.D mainly explained the act of lobbying in the sense of game theory and assymetric information.
It is expected that this public lecture will give valuable insight to the audience as some of them are policy makers which is the targets of this special interest groups.
