On Wednesday (15/5), Faculty Economics and Business Universitas Indonesia (FEB UI) hosted The University of North Carolina (UNC) Kenan-Flagler Business School for the International Immersion Program. Dr Larry Chavis, The Clinical Associate Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, led the visit to FEB UI, which consisted of 30 students and two staffs. The immersion program took place at the Auditorium Morowali KKI FEB UI. Mrs Muthia Pramesti, M.M., CFP, gave her opening remarks to start the session, and followed by Dr Chavis’s opening speech afterwards.
Several FEB UI students were present as the student buddy during the visit. They had an exciting discussion session with the students of UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, talking about cultural differences, political views, and economic issues related to both Indonesia and the USA. The representatives from FEB UI students organizations: SPA FEB UI, MSS FEB UI, Kanopi FEB UI, IBEC FEB UI, and BEM FEB UI gave a presentation about their activities and covered topics regarding their departments and each major’s information. Also, the students of UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School shared some stories and insights of their school, plus the student’s life.
After both university students were finished sharing, FEB UI students took the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School students a short walk around FEB UI campus. Furthermore, the Student Ambassadors of International Office FEB UI guided a brief campus tour from the bus as the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School were heading back. The day was ended with a social dinner and iftar at Mang Engking restaurant, Depok.
From this immersion program, both of FEB UI and UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School students acquired many new pieces of knowledge, especially they learn about globalization and world diversity that can affect various sectors, including economics and business. We hope that FEB UI and UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School could foster a mutual-beneficial relation that can last for years.
