International Undergraduate Student FEB UI Won Best Individual Performance Deloitte Tax Challenge

Grace Puspita is an International Undergraduate Student (Accounting2016). She won best Individual Performance (which is an individual award).
Deloitte Tax Challenge is an annual competition for university students discussing current real business challenges mainly in taxation, include international and digital taxation.
The competition was held in Deloitte Indonesia, 8 January 2020 for preliminary stage and 22 January 2020 for final stage.
The competition consists of 3 stages: screening stage, preliminary stage and final stage.
“Although I won the individual award, the competition itself was a team-based competition. I was extremely grateful that my friends, Mentari Andini, Lulu Thasya and Panji Hutomo (Accounting 2016) invited me and that we strived together as a team throughout the both the second and final round,” said Grace.
“They are undoubtedly are very passionate about tax. I wouldn’t have done it without my friends who have shown immense support and drive for the past month. I think there’s no words that could express my gratitude for the opportunity to even join the competition in the first place,”
“My next agenda is to represent Deloitte Indonesia in the South East Asia Deloitte Tax Challenge held in Kuala Lumpur,” said grace.
For the screening stage they were to submit a 5-minute group video discussing Indonesian Tax Reform.
“After passing the screening stage, they were to complete a business simulation test in the preliminary stage against 11 other teams. Given 2 hours to do the cases, we were to make a PowerPoint presentation and then present in front of a panel of judges. The top 6 teams move forward to the next round.
Similar to the preliminary stage, they were to do another set of cases.
But those time, they only have 90 minutes and were expected to present in front of a wider audience: 3 judges and many other people, consisting of Deloitte personnel and other teams who had already presented.
“I believe my award was more heavily based on presentation skills rather than the technical,” said grace.
“Realising the massive disruption technology has brought onto the business world, having technical skills are never enough to achieve success, people skills or communication skills, soft skills are at least as important if not more, it is important to being able to work under pressure,”
“Relating to this competition I hope to continue the legacy of Indonesian representatives in bringing home the awards
Beyond this, I am looking forward to take more bold choices in realising my dreams and to be more passionate in what I do.
If given the opportunity I would love to share my experience to the younger generations in order for them to be wiser in making their choices,”
