Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Visit To FEB UI
On Friday, April 22 2019, Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) visited Faculty of Economics Universitas Indonesia (FEB UI) which was held in Dean Office Building FEB UI. The visit was attended by Dr. Mohammed Obaidullah from IsDB. The IsDB delegates were welcomed by Prof. Ari Kuncoro, Ph.D (Dean of FEB UI). The visit was also attended by Mrs. Rahmatina Awaliyah Kasri, Ph.D (Head of Centre for Islamic Economics and Business FEB UI), Mrs. Muthia Pramesti, M.M., CFP (Head of International Office FEB UI), Dr. Abdillah Ahsan (Researcher Lembaga Demografi FEB UI), and Askar Muhammad (PEBS FEB UI).
The visit discussed about Smart Economy Initiative (SEI) which is pioneered by Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI). IRTI is an entity within the Islamic Development Bank Group and serves as the IDB Group’s primary organizational unit for the delivery of Islamic Finance research, training, information, advisory, technical assistance and Islamic Financial Products development services within the Group and to its Member Countries. SEI aims to identify critical components of the economy of Member Countries for potential application of blokchain technologies and fintech innovations to bring about value – based, inclusive, and sustainable growth.
In this collaboration, IRTI will set up a Smart Economy Lab (SEL) that would provide research grants to researchers at postgraduate level, grants to cover legal costs involved in the patenting process, and provision of seed capital to start-ups. Universitas Indonesia will take role to host the SEL, align Masters and Doctoral programs with SE Agenda, develop network of scientist/technology experts/economists, and organize seminar and workshops.
We hope this collaboration will benefit both of parties.
