Department of Management FEB UI Held Research Methodology Training for the Beginners Series 2nd

DEPOK – (14/12/2021) Department of Management FEB UI held Research Methodology Training for the Beginners Series 2nd with speaker Assoc. Prof. Azman bin Ismail, Visiting Professor at Department of Management, FEB UI and moderator Wahyu Jatmiko, Ph.D., Lecturer of Department of Management FEB UI on Tuesday (14/12). This is the 2nd series training which has been held for the internal participants, there are graduate students, and the lecturers too.
This training was giving the explanation about the knowledge and skills of theory driven as a guideline to determine a research direction/focus, example to develop a research model, research objective, research questions & research hypothesis. The training hopefully will be useful in preparing a systematic research proposal for the lecturer or graduate students.
Assoc. Prof Azman determine the process of developing a direct effects model and process of developing a mediating model. Firstly, he was describing about the literature review provides new ideas/opinions, then research finding to theoretical implication, secondly, choose and decide the organization/industry as a location of study, the research finding: practical implication. Thirdly, Assoc. Prof. Azman explained the method quantitative and/or qualitative research, then research finding methodological implication.
He also gave the material about the types of research model to develop the research models in stages based on literature in 5 steps, there are:
Step one, researcher must begin the research with establishing one factor model and identify one of potential study issue in a particular field of study, example, health, safety etc.
Step two, defined the direct effects model to determine the correlation between two variables.
Step three, defined the mediating mode, there is effect of Independent variable on Dependent variable through mediating variables.
Step four, defined the moderating model, effect of independent variable on dependent variable will increase or decrease if moderator included or excluded in the relationship.
The last step, decide the combination of mediator and moderator in one research model.
After Assoc. Prof Azman gave the details for some of steps for developing the research models, then he asked to the participants to learn some of tasks that related with his explanation in the training today, there is to select a potential research, so researcher must to choose the specific topic to develop one factor model based on the literature, to develop a direct effects model based on literature, example of test difference for the direct effects model, test of correlation and the technic for developing a direct effects model.
Then Assoc. Prof.Azman will give the other tasks and the detail information in the next training that will arrange by the Department of Management. Moderator give gratitude and closed the 2nd series research methodology training, and soon the department will give the information for the 3rd series training.
