International Journal Editor Shared Tips to Publish in ASEAN Marketing Journal

DEPOK – Management Reseach Center, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia held the 2019 ASEAN Marketing Journal Mini Symposium at The Margo Hotel, Depok.
In this activity there are two main activities that facilitate participants and answer questions from participants facing difficulties in journal writing.
Meet the Editors and Reviewers from Scopus Index Journal
In this session, Bryan KM Wong, Head of School and Associate Professor of the School of Business, KDU University said 10 steps in writing. “Pay attention to the originality of ideas by conducting research on the latest publications. Choose the place of publication in accordance with the journal written. Pay attention to the title and abstract, make sure the title is interesting and clear. Convey the problem to be studied (problem staement) clearly. Mastery of the research topic will also be illustrated in writing, make sure you give a good argument Research design and concepts are also of the attention of the reviewer.Phoose methods and data that are relevant and in line with the research conducted.You should describe findings that are in accordance with the research objectives, find the uniqueness of new findings to be shared academia and practice, and writing and proof reading styles will perfect the contents of a research journal. “
Viky Janine Little, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Marketing, Monash University Malaysia, with diverse demographics and rich culture, is still as little as research (especially qualitative research) on markets and consumers in Asia. “This can be further explored with interesting topics and good preparation.” Viki added pay attention to journal guidelines and find experienced mentors to consult. “In addition to making sure the research topic is consistent with the research objectives and scope, look for other research as examples as writing guidelines.”
Sri Rahayu Hijrah Hati, lecturer at FEB UI and Chief Editor of The South East Asian Journal of Management, shared her experience as a reviewer and writer. The length of the initial review does not guarantee pass to the next stage. There are 7 things that reviewers often comment on, including titles and abstracts, introductions, literature reviews, research methods, analysis and discussion, conclusions, implications and the possibility of future research development. “Don’t be afraid of reviews, to make it easier to respond to a given review, create a table of responses.”
Lesson Learned: How to PhD Students in Undip Striving for Scopus Indexed Publication
Augusty Ferdinand, lecturer at Dipenogoro University Graduate Program, also shared tips and tricks on successfully publishing research in Scopus with the theme “Lesson Learned: How to PhD Students in Undip Striving for Scopus Indexed Publication”. Through approaches in conceptual and procedural aspects, many doctoral students graduate with more than 1 scientific journal publication. The conceptual aspect is a system that is mentored and included in the curriculum, while the procedural aspect is the ability to write and respond to reviewers.
Manuscript Clinic
In the Manuscript Clinic, participants are divided into groups to give brief presentations on the research written and get a direct review from the journal reviewers in attendance. The participants were undergraduate and graduate students, as well as lecturers from several universities such as Padjajaran University in Bandung, Bina Nusantara University, and Dipenogoro University, Semarang. Daniel Tumpal Hamonangan, Asnan Furinto and Sony Kusumasondjaja filled this session with Bryan Kwon and Viki Janine Little.
Participants who partly presented their final work received a review and suggestions regarding the research presented.(Des)
