Hana Fajria – Humas FEB UI

DEPOK – Department of Economics, University of Indonesia and Department of Spatial Economics, School of Business and Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (SBE VU) held the Closing of the 3rd Annual Intensive Course Program in Urban, Transportation, and Environmental Economics in the Management Auditorium, FEB UI. This event took place on Friday (2/7/2020).

Participants in this program are not only from Economics students, but also Masters and Ph.D students from other majors, such as Urban Planning and Design. This intensive four-week course (13 January 2020 to 7 February 2020) is an extraordinary opportunity for scholars, policy makers, and prospective masters students to learn theoretical knowledge and practical skills to overcome complex problems related to urban problems, transportation , and the environment. The lecture is conducted in a two-way learning model, where participants receive knowledge from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam lecturers, and lecturers also receive knowledge from participants about urban areas in Indonesia.

On the first and second week: January 13 to January 25, 2020 has been coordinated by FEB UI. Presenters: Statistics and Econometrics (Dewa Wisana), Mathematical Economics (Djoni Hartono / Teguh Dartanto), and Micro Economics (Vid Adrison). Whereas on the 3rd and 4th Sunday: January 28th to February 8th 2019 it was coordinated by SBE VU. Presenters of the course: Transportation Economics (Erik Verhoef), Urban and Regional Economics (Henri de Groot and Peter Mulder), and Environmental Economics (Gerard van der Meijden).

These are the best four-week experiences in studying transportation, the environment, and urbanism from an economic perspective to overcome current problems and make better living conditions for the future. Do not forget that after the end of this event, all participants were given two types of certificates, namely Certificate of attendance by FEB-UI and SBE-VU. And there are special sessions to convey information about Dutch scholarships and study in Amsterdam. Hopefully the long-term collaboration between the University of Indonesia and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam will continue in the following year (Des).
