Depok – (15/10/2020) The Management Institute of FEB UI in collaboration with SWA held an HR Excellence Webinar Series entitled Talent Management Practice: Strategy and Execution on Thursday, 15 October 2020. Herdy R. Harman, Director of Human Capital BRI, presented several materials on Global phenomenon, Human Capital Challenges, and BRI Strategy in Managing Talent.
According to Herdy, one of the global phenomena of the times is that cellular should be the basis for a new banking model towards the era of open banking. On the Human Capital Challenges side, there are 5 points that are important to note, namely Finding the Right Size & Competency, Talent Attraction, Talent Management, Building Culture System, and Establishing Agile & Digital Organization. In its implementation, BRI’s strategy in managing talent, Herdy explained 4 important points of managing talent, namely first, identifying talent based on the system (observing performance data, employee potential & social perceptions). Second, talent selection by reviewing the best talent, talent pool, and talent base based on main expertise. Third, talent development, by maintaining the development of people to prepare future-ready talents, and fourthly, talent succession by ensuring business continuity and preparing successors for available positions.
“Great talent does not appear suddenly, but can only be formed if it is carried out systematically starting from finding, developing and maintaining it by involving all stakeholders.” quoted Herdy. “Keep your spirit, high and stay young forever, not because the goal is achieved we become happy, but because we are happy the goal is achieved,” concluded Herdy.
Niken Ardiyanti, Psi, MPsi., Lecturer at FEB UI and Consultant of the FEB UI Management Institute, then discussed the presentation of talent management. There are 3 key things in talent management, including the first to identify employees, second to develop employees, and third to retain employees.
Niken also discussed the strategic challenges and opportunities for BUMN Banks in Indonesia in the future, such as a focus on developing soft skills capabilities for Intermediate Managers, secondly there is a commitment to change from top management, as a leadership figure as well as driving the momentum of change in order to create value creation, and third ensuring all considerations decision making refers to the insights obtained from the data.

Talent management will be well managed, if there is a good system and must have standardization.
