UI Inaugurates Indonesian Student Vaccination Center with a Target of 25,000 Participants

 

DEPOK (5/8/2021) – On Thursday, August 5, 2021, at the Sports Facility (SOR), Campus UI Depok Universitas Indonesia (UI) inaugurated the “Indonesian Student Vaccination Center” as a tangible form of support for accelerating communal immunity or herd immunity in Indonesia.

The inauguration of the Indonesian Student Vaccination Center (SVMI) UI was carried out by the Rector of UI Prof. Ari Kuncoro, S.E., M.A., Ph.D., and attended by Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC, Ph.D., IPU, Asean Eng., Plt. Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia; Professor of the Faculty of Economics and Business UI who is also the President Commissioner of PT Telkom Indonesia, Prof. Bambang Permadi Soemantri Brodjonegoro, S.E., M.U.P., Ph.D.; President Director of PT Mustika Ratu Tbk., Bingar Egidius Situmorang; RCEO Region 5 Jakarta 3-Bank Mandiri Anton Zulkarnain; Arya Prajaka Head of BNI’s Institutional Relations Division; Assistant for Government and Social Welfare, as well as Deputy Head of the Depok City Covid-19 Task Force 3 Drs. Sri Utomo, M.Si; and the deans of 17 faculties/graduate schools/vocational programs.

The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force, Air Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo, S.E., M.P.P., appreciated the initiative of the University of Indonesia in vaccinating Indonesian students. The Indonesian Air Force assisted in the preparation of the health teams (Nakes) and the vaccinator teams and supported the preparation of ambulances in these activities.

UI collaborated with partners from PT Mustika Ratu Tbk, Shopee Indonesia, PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, PT Paragon Technology and Innovation, Telkomsel, Bank Negara Indonesia, Bank Mandiri, Bank Rakyat Indonesia, State Savings Bank, and Bank Central Asia, in providing the best vaccination service at SVMI.

Rector of UI Prof. Ari Kuncoro, S.E., M.A., Ph.D., said, “To support the Government’s target of carrying out vaccinations of 2 million doses/day, UI is in synergy with various partners trying to build a vaccination center called the “Indonesian Student Vaccination Center (SVMI)”. The inauguration of the Indonesian Student Vaccination Center is expected to be a role model for pentahelix cooperation consisting of academia, government, industry, mass media, and also the public,” he said.

SVMI received support from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, the West Java Provincial Health Office, and the Depok City Health Office in preparing 25,000 doses of the Sinovac vaccine, with details of a quota of 1,000 participants per day. In addition to UI students, SVMI is open to students throughout Greater Jakarta and the general public who are 12 years old and over, have a Population Identification Number (NIK) and/or have an Indonesian ID card. Participants who want to take part in this program can register via reservation.ehealth.co.id/kliniksatelitui.

A total of 120 health workers from the UI Makara Satellite Clinic, volunteers from the Student Executive Board (BEM), 15 health workers from RSAU dr. Esnawan Antariksa, the Air Force Operations Command (Koopsau) I, and the National Air Defense Command (Kohanudnas), participated in the vaccination at SVMI.

Prof. Bambang P.S. Brodjonegoro conveyed the commitment of PT Telkom Indonesia to support the vaccination program, one of which was by participating in the SVMI collaboration. Professor and member of the UI Board of Trustees, Prof. Bambang, said, “The pentahelix collaboration between UI and various parties is one aspect of achieving communal immunity. On behalf of the Telkom Group, I am grateful to be one of the collaborating partners to be a part of this excellent effort. I hope UI students can take advantage of this vaccination center facility, and this Vaccination Center can be of the widest benefit to UI, Depok City Government, and the public.” he said.

President Director of PT Mustika Ratu Tbk, Bingar Egidius Situmorang said, “Mustika Ratu supports the government in accelerating the handling of Covid-19 by presenting the Herbalmuno+ herbal supplement which is very useful for maintaining health and increasing endurance, made from five selected herbs native to Indonesia, namely Sambiloto, Manis Root, Meniran, Emprit Ginger, and Cashew Leaves which have benefits as immunomodulators and also help relieve symptoms of fever, nausea, flatulence, dizziness and coughing.” Herbamuno+ has been used by health workers from the Covid Emergency Hospital (RSDC) Wisma Haji, Pondok Gede, health workers from the Armed Forces Hospital (RSAD) on the island of Java, and is used as a supplementary assistance in various vaccine centers held in several big cities in Indonesia, including the vaccine center at UI.

“I also support the UI vaccine center program to help the government accelerate the handling of Covid-19 so that it ends soon. Let’s all vaccinate and keep our immune system healthy with Herbamuno+, so we can stay healthy.” said Roro Ayu Maulida Putri, S.H., Puteri Indonesia 2020, who was present at the location this morning.

Sis Apik Wijayanto, Director BNI Institutional Relations, said that the national vaccination program is one of the most important game changers to restore the Indonesian economy and rise from adversity due to the Covid-19 pandemic. “From the banking sector, we are very supportive of the program to open this Vaccination Center. We hope that the academic community can take advantage of this Vaccination Center so that it becomes part of accelerating the formation of communal immunity in Indonesia.” Sis Apik said.

Prof. Ir. Nizam expressed his congratulations and appreciation for UI’s efforts to realize the Phase III Vaccination Center. So far, UI has been persistent and active in helping to overcome Covid-19, especially in Greater Jakarta, both through volunteers, as well as research and development. The Ministry of Education and Culture and Research and Technology supports this program, by working collaboratively with partners, the Indonesian Ministry of Health, and sponsors.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA., Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and Assets, in the inauguration of SVMI delivered a report that the activity has been carried out in 3 batches, starting on 21-23 July 2021 (for batch 1), 28-30 July (batch 2) and 3rd batch with a total accumulated target of 25,000 vaccine recipients. In batch 1 and batch 2, SVMI has carried out as many as 2,279 people being vaccinated. As for batch 3 starting today, the total number of registrants in the next 4 days is 4,585 people with new UI student participants as many as 393 new students from the 2021 batch.
