UI Collaborates with BPKP to Strengthen Good University Governance
Jakarta (ANTARA) – (19/10/2021) Universitas Indonesia (UI) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) to strengthen governance within UI.
The cooperation between the two parties was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UI Rector Prof Ari Kuncoro PhD and Head of BPKP Muhammad Yusuf Ateh in Gandhi Hall, BPKP Office, East Jakarta, Tuesday.
“This cooperation is deemed necessary to carry out the management transformation of UI Governance in accordance with the principles of good university governance,” said UI Rector Ari Kuncoro.
Ari said that the collaboration would later be part of the governance assistance activities and harmonization between policies within the university, particularly in the management of UI’s autonomy as a PTNBH.
“In addition, in terms of governance transformation at UI, there is also hope that there will be synergy in the implementation of UI autonomy both in the academic and non-academic fields,” said Ari.
He further said that UI will also make changes in accordance with the demands of modern, adaptive, innovative and agile university development by benchmarking the governance of top universities in the QS World University Rankings, Times Higher Education (THE), and other international rankings.
“All of these expectations can be realized if they are aligned with strengthening university and organizational resource management,” he said.
The collaboration to strengthen governance that will be carried out by UI with BPKP includes overseeing UI’s strategic or priority programs, developing UI governance transformation, increasing financial and asset accountability at UI, improving the quality of implementation of the internal control system at UI, and increasing the capability of internal supervisory officers in the environment. UI.
Meanwhile, Head of BPKP Muhammad Yusuf Ateh explained that to improve accountability and good governance at UI, high commitment from relevant parties is needed.
“This commitment must start from improving the internal control system and risk management,” he said.
Ateh added that changing the statute to become a Legal Entity State University (PTNBH), gavr UI the flexibility to manage itself. So, Ateh said, the expansion of this authority causes significant changes to UI’s business processes, both for academic and non-academic processes.
In carrying out these tasks and functions, UI faces challenges. Challenges in carrying out the function of autonomy in the implementation of higher education, as well as challenges in implementing governance transformation to realize good university governance that prioritizes transparency and accountability.
“BPKP will facilitate in the form of assurance and consulting services tailored to the needs of UI,” said Ateh.
He hopes that the MoU is not just a symbol, but is actually implemented. With the MoU, it is also expected to continue to improve the effectiveness of the cooperation that has been built, and can be expanded so as to improve the quality of governance and internal supervision at UI.
