DEPOK – Postgraduate Program in Accounting, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia held a session for the Doctoral Promotion of Azolla Degita Azis (1406590816) at the Postgraduate Auditorium, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Indonesia, Depok Campus, on Friday (12/20/2019).

The dissertation was titled “Direct and Indirect Impact of the Business Environment Uncertainty on Investment Efficiency”. The gap in the previous research becomes one of the reasons for Azolla to do this research, namely the uncertainty of the business environment that could increase or decrease sensitivity. However, in this study there were found new variables, that is the quality of financial statements, among these variables, so the quality of financial statements plays an important role, so that it can reduce the uncertainty of the business environment, so investment increases, other phenomena, such as the level of Indonesia’s Incremental Capital-Output Ratio (ICOR) nationally, also decline, above 4-5% ICOR rates above 4% indicate that investment in a country is not being achieved.

This study uses data on financial statements of companies listed on the Jakarta Stock Exchange for the period 2012-2014. The results of this study indicate the uncertainty of the business environment harms investment efficiency directly or indirectly. This research proves that risk management can weaken the negative influence of the uncertainty of the business environment on investment efficiency and strengthen the positive influence of the quality of financial statements on investment efficiency.

Azzola admitted that persistence in working on her dissertation was the biggest challenge. Moral responsibility as a recipient of scholarships and support from the people closest to the spirit to complete his dissertation. “From three things, Idea, funding and persistence, the most challenging one is the persistence. If you are an (undergraduate) college student, that’s easy, right? There is a schedule. If the dissertation depends on our will .”

The process of the dissertation is not easy. Consistency to make progress and fight the feeling ‘to be perfect’ is the message of Azolla. “A good dissertation is a finished dissertation. So, sometimes we feel we must be perfect, from within ourselves. The feeling to make it perfext, “This dissertation must be perfect, even though there is no perfect dissertation. Sometimes the promotors only ask for a little change. But we want more perfect. So the same thoughts in themselves, ‘Want this, that …’ even though the supervisor did not ask. So later we will meet with the supervisor again, what is this, revised again. “Moreover, Azolla feels the same way.” I am also the obstacle, for content analysis that collects company data. I use a data assistant. I feel that I have my fears, this is true or not, the data, is it working? I want me to do it myself. Lack of trust and perfectionist. It’s like a boomerang and makes the process longer. “

Thus, the Leadership Council of the open session of doctoral promotion decided, Azolla Degita Azis was declared graduated with the title of Very Satisfactory and succeeded in obtaining the 68th Doctoral degree in Accounting. Congratulations to Dr.Azolla Degita Azis! (Des)
