Depok – (26/08/2020) Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Indonesia held a webinar workshop entitled “Masterclass Pitching Research” which was attended by 155 participants on Wednesday (26/8/2020).
The resource person for this webinar is Prof. Robert Faff, Professor of Finance and former Director of Research at the University of Queensland Business School. The moderator of this event is Arief Wibisono Lubis, Head of the Management Department of FEB UI.
In this class, Prof. Robert describes this masterclass with three related objectives. First, it introduces the basics of a “pitching research” framework. This framework is basically built on a simple template structure, designed to briefly and systematically convey all the important aspects of a scientific research project to a research collaborator (or mentor) as well as a powerful tool in facilitating effective and meaningful interactive communication between two (or more) like-minded researchers. Second, the masterclass will briefly illustrate the pitching tools with a simple example. Third, participants are directed to additional resources to learn more about “promotions” and how to implement them.
Pitching Research is a framework (based on a small set of organizing principles – that is, structured, concise, simple, methodical, clear & focused), which challenges novice researchers to effectively communicate their research ideas to academic experts. This simple template is designed to allow researchers in nearly any academic discipline to identify core elements worthy of and useful for an empirical research proposal. It is hoped that this template will be very useful as a training tool for the development of robust research proposals by leading researchers in the future.
