Collaborating with FKP, the Demographic Institute FEB UI Holds First Special Webinar for 56th Anniversary
In the framework of its 56th Anniversary, the Demographic Institute in collaboration with the Development Studies Forum (FKP) held a special series of webinars throughout August 2020. The first webinar presented Salut Muhidin, Ph.D from Macquarie University Australia, who gave a presentation entitled Analysis of Maternal Infection and Neonatus Born to Mother with Covid-19: a Systematic Review on Thursday, 6 August 2020.
In the presentation, Salut explained the method of choosing references systematically so that nothing is overlooked.
From the application of this method to the issue of Pregnant Women Affected by Covid-19, the Demographic Institute this Research Adjunct obtained 9 selected articles (out of 1400 reviewed). From the 9 articles, it was found that whether or not there is a vertical transition of the coronavirus from mother to child is still unclear (inconclusive).
He said that “On the implications of COVID-19 for pregnant women, because of the current situation, more attention should be paid to the special needs of pregnant women. Among them, proper and careful care must be applied. In critical cases, pregnancy can harm both the mother and the fetus. Thus, early termination is necessary even in preterm pregnancies. “.
Salut Muhidin, Ph.D. stated that “Standard health protocols must be implemented for pregnant women. Like avoiding unnecessary trips, using public transportation, or crowds. ” (hjtp)
