In his remarks, Bambang stated that, “Company management, especially the Human Resource division, is needed. On the other hand, with the challenges of digital technology in human resource management, such as labor allocation, reduction of labor hours, to a reduction in the workforce, the role of the Human Resource Development (HRD) division is strategic, especially to minimize labor dynamics in companies. One of the keys to the success of the Human Resource Development division in the new normal phase is the availability of accurate data from the workforce, because this greatly determines the accuracy of HRD in managing the potential of the workforce, becoming one of the indicators of company resilience in facing Covid-19 “.
Dr. Ir. Yunus Triyonggo as the first resource person, explained the strategic role of HRD as an agent of resilience. Yunus began his presentation by quoting from a Deloitte 2020 source, “The essence of resilient leadership includes fixing the plane while it flies; respond, recover and thrive; and recognize and reinforce critical shifts from today to tomorrow. Resilience is not a destination it is a way of being,”. He continued, there are 5 important points for the character of a leader, namely 5 fundamental qualities of resilient leadership, including design from the heart and the head (that is,when making plans, besides calculating data, human elements must also be included), put the mission first (what is to be achieved), aim for speed over elegance (currently , speed is more important than beauty), own the narrative (communicate well), embrace the long view (keep looking at the long term). The capability of problem solving, digital acumen and discretion is key in the agent of resilience .
Yosminaldi, SH, MM as the second speaker, presented the role of HR practitioners in anticipating the new normal era in the company. “There are 5 basic points in order to secure the condition of the company, namely maintaining a family spirit and mutual cooperation, building a healthy work environment and preparing incentives, creating an atmosphere of work-life balance, ensuring the presence of a career development program and an employment engagement aspect.”.
Yosminaldi also provided creative solutions for handling human resources in this sustainable pandemic era. First, by building a staying safe awareness for all employees, ensuring employees remain comfortable during WFH, and regularly holding online sessions to lift up the mood or as entertainment for those who are bored at home.
Yosminaldi concluded by saying that human resources should be strong and able to support companies to survive this pandemic. This is important so that companies can survive, get up and keep going. HR leaders are expected to be proactive in their strategic roles during these difficult times. (hjtp)
