UI and Tzu Chi Collaborate in the Tridharma of Higher Education

 

DEPOK – (19/8/2020) Universitas Indonesia (UI) collaborated with the Indonesian Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, Tzu Chi University Taiwan, and Tzu Chi Science & Technology Taiwan in organizing the Tri Dharma for higher education, improving health quality, developing human resources, public economy, and environmental preservation.

The agreement was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by UI Rector Prof. Ari Kuncoro, SE, MA, Ph.D and Tzu Chi Indonesia Vice Chairman Sugianto Kusuma.

Also attending the signing, the CEO of DAAI TV Indonesia Mr. Hong Tjhin, President of Tzu Chi University, Prof. Ingrid Liu, Ph.D, President of Tzu Chi University of Science and Technology, Mr. Wen-Jui Lo., UI Deputy Chancellor for Finance and Logistics Vita Silvira, S.E., MBA .; and Head of Cooperation, Venture, and Digital UI Agency, Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA. This event was conducted through an online meeting room held on Wednesday (19/8).

In his speech, Prof. Ari said, “UI fully supports this strategic partnership that we expect   will accelerate efforts to downstream or commercialize patents from innovations produced by UI’s talented inventors. We will further develop the triple helix collaboration, otherwise termed as the  ABG’s, namely Academic, Business, Government, to further develop into a Pentahelix, where elements of the media and community, in this case the Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation, can create co-creations that contribute to society. We hope that this collaboration will be able to develop academics and research, as well as innovations that will provide added value to both parties, and can provide benefits and impacts that are directly felt by the nation and State of Indonesia. “

Mr. Hong Tjhin, Executive of the Buddha Tzu Chi Indonesia Foundation as well as the CEO of DAAI TV, in his remarks said, “We hope that this collaboration can become a strategic partnership model in the development of the education, health, economy and environment sectors to support sustainable development in Indonesia. and bring positive implications directly for society. “

A number of programs derived from NKB include cultural and academic, teaching staff, researchers and students exchanges  among UI, Tzu Chi University Taiwan, and Tzu Chi Science & Technology Taiwan.

Concurrently with these activities, UI – Tzu Chi also held a webinar entitled “RI Independence and the Spirit of National Unity” with the main speaker Dr. Imam Prasodjo, UI Sociologist.

In his presentation, Imam recommended that society collaborate to build learning villages that can mentor local students. “In this case, Tzu Chi can participate by building a Tzu Chi Village,” said Imam Prasodjo.
