Sri Mulyani won the Best East Asia and Pacific Minister of Finance Award 2020
DEPOK – (12/10/2020) Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati was awarded the 2020 Finance Minister of the Year for East Asia Pacific Award from Global Markets magazine.
This is her second consecutive award after previously receiving it in 2018.
According to Global Markets, Sri Mulyani deserves this award for her achievements in managing the Indonesian economic situation during the pandemic (Covid – 19). Global Markets Magazine assessed her commitment to provide fiscal stimulus through social protection, tax incentives, loan guarantees and subsidies for the most affected business sectors, is worthy of the award.
In addition, her decision to extend the deficit beyond the regulated maximum limit of 3% of gross domestic product (GDP), a difficult strategy to implement, is also another reason why Sri Mulyani deserves to be awarded this prestigious award.
“This honor reflects the commitment and hard work of all levels at the Ministry of Finance in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia,” said the minister in her official statement, Monday (12/10).
Sri Mulyani said that the award would initiate improvement in fiscal management. “Because, Indonesia is still facing tough and long challenges ahead. This achievement has indicated that we are on the right track.” added Sri Mulyani.
Global Markets Magazine is the leading news magazine in international economic markets for the last 30 years.
