UI Receives Public Information Openness Award, With the Predicate Informative

DEPOK – (25/11/2020) On Wednesday (25/11), Universitas Indonesia (UI) received an award as a state university (PTN) with the Informative Predicate at the Public Information Openness Award organized by the Central Information Commission. Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Prof. Dr. (HC) KH Ma’ruf Amin handed over the award trophy virtually to the heads of public bodies, among them the Rector of UI Prof. Ari Kuncoro, S.E, M.A, Ph.D.

According to the Chairman of the Central Information Commission (KI), Gede Narayana, this award is given by the Central KI every year to Public Bodies that implement Law Number 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Openness (UU KIP), based on monitoring and evaluation carried out by Central KI.

Three predicates were announced on the occasion, namely Sufficiently Informative, Towards Informative, and Informative. The informative predicate is given to public bodies that have successfully scored 90-100, and UI scored 90.18. According to UI Rector Prof. Ari Kuncoro, this award is a momentum for UI as a PTN-BH to be more enthusiastic about implementing the KIP Law and a culture of public information openness towards good and clean university governance. “The COVID-19 pandemic certainly presents new challenges for us in providing public information services. We are not silent and continue to provide online services, by utilizing communication media through the Whatsapp chat application. In addition, UI has also prepared a platform to check the status of requests for public information, so that applicants can know the progress of their submitted applications,” said Prof. Ari.

In his directive speech, the Vice President KH. Ma’ruf Amin said that the implementation of open public information is a strategic matter in realizing good governance in public bodies. According to him, “This event is a good opportunity to appreciate public bodies that are serious about striving for public information disclosure in order to make it easier for the public to access information.”

Vice President Ma’ruf Amin congratulated the public body for accepting the Informative classification. He advised us to maintain the vision to maintain and develop the quality of public services. For public bodies that receive the predicate Towards Informative, it is hoped that in the future they can meet the qualifications of an informative Public Agency with the right commitment and strategy. For Public Bodies with qualifications of Sufficiently Informative, Less Informative, and Uninformative, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin advised to continue to accelerate and improve the implementation of public information disclosure and apply it consistently with transparency, accountability, and innovation as well as participation in every aspect of public service.

UI is one of the public bodies among 348 public bodies in Indonesia that are monitored and evaluated. These public bodies consist of ministries, state agencies and non-ministerial government agencies, non-structural institutions, provincial governments, state-owned enterprises, state universities, and political parties.
