Rifdah Khalisha – Public Relations FEB UI DEPOK – (29/9/2021) On Wednesday (29/9), at the 71st Anniversary Series of Events, FEB UI held the Series 1 Afternoon Talk with the Management Department with the theme “Indonesia 4.0 through Social Entrepreneurship”. The presenting resource persons were Al-Fatih Timur (Founder of Kita Bisa and Alumni of the Management Department FEB UI) and Mone Stepanus Andrias, Ph.D. (Academic of the Management Department FEB UI).
Fatih introduced Kitabisa, the leading social fundraising platform in Indonesia. “Established in 2013, Kitabisa has facilitated thousands of social and health fundraising every day. Our 300 plus team believes that technology is the perfect tool to amplify goodness. We can provide a platform for anyone to effectively raise or channel donations online.” To date, Kitabisa has connected more than 50,000 fundraising campaigns and received various awards, including the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs Padma Award, Forbes Under 30, EY Entrepreneur of The Year, and the 2020 Fundraising Award. Furthermore, he explained that the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) World Giving Index 2021 named Indonesia the most generous country in the world. The report measures it through 3 indicators of generosity, namely helping strangers, making donations, and volunteering. Kitabisa always endeavors to ensure safe fundraising with a verification stage through several features, such as know your customer, fundraising automation through third party assistance; campaign verification, examination by medical fundraisers; abuse reports, community participation to actively monitor suspicious fundraising; investigation team, processing reports of suspicious fundraising indications. “In the age of Indonesia 4.0 through Social Entrepreneurship, every university and faculty must get closer to and learn the latest developments in the world of technology.” he said.
Mone discussed about social entrepreneurs to make Indonesia great. “Digitalization is a phenomenon that has happened in recent years. Various aspects of life are starting to have a connection with the digital world, and social entrepreneurs are no exception.” He presented Torres and Augusto’s paper (2020) to study the phenomenon. According to Bierhoff (2002), social entrepreneurs are individuals who work for their own interests while pursuing pro-social goals. While Barberá-Tomás et al. (2019) defines social entrepreneurs as, individuals who try to create social change. Then, Selsky and Parker (2010) wrote that social entrepreneurship means developing business models to address social problems and provide social impact. Mone said that, “The research uses a qualitative comparative analysis method by taking data from 27 countries, including Indonesia. Based on the Philanthropic Financial System (PFS) variable, Indonesia has a very high score of 0.67. This means that Indonesians like to help people or make donations.” “Therefore, social entrepreneurs can take advantage of the good traditions of the Indonesian people in a positive way. The results of this study indicate that the presence of social entrepreneurship activities and other values is more closely related to a high level of national welfare.” he said. For Mone, Indonesia needs more digital social entrepreneurs to help solve social problems. Indeed, this country already has high social capital, such as agriculture, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), as well as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs. (am) |
