KBMK 2021 consists of eight competition categories, namely the Business Planning Competition with Renewable Energy Ecosystem Aspects; Operations Management Aspect Analysis; Case Analysis of Human Management Aspects; Case Analysis of Marketing Management Aspects; Investment Research; Investigative Audit Finance; Commercialization of Appropriate Research and Technology; and Writing Scientific Papers with Aspects of Innovation in Poverty Reduction. This year, KBMK 2021 added an activity in the form of an International Exhibition—which was fully held in English—as a forum for disseminating the work of the nation’s children to the international community.

The events began with the submission of a report by the chairman of the 2021 KBMK committee as well as Acting Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business UI, Teguh Dartanto, Ph.D. Mr. Teguh expressed his greatest appreciation for the trust given by the Puspresnas Kemndikbud Ristek to UI, to be the organizer of the 2021 KBMK activities. This appreciation was also conveyed to the parties involved in the implementation of KBMK activities.

In addition, Mr. Teguh explained that the KBMK was successful with the active roles of the participants. They have the opportunity to make presentations in front of leaders in the government and industry sectors, as well as have the opportunity to be recruited to work by these partners. This proves that KBMK has succeeded in becoming a forum that brings together industry and potential talents from universities.

After the report submitted by the Chair of the 2021 KBMK Committee, the event continued with remarks from UI, represented by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris, Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs at UI. He expressed his greatest appreciation to the Puspresnas Kemdikbud Ristek for trusting UI to organize the 2021 KBMK activities. Haris hopes that the collaboration between the Puspresnas Kemdikbud Ristek and UI will continue to escalate in the future.

Prof. Haris also expressed admiration for the 2021 KBMK participants for the amazing ideas and narratives given in discussing the existing themes. “The ideas and narratives of the participants were brilliant in helping to solve the nation’s problems which were discussed in the given themes. These themes are very relevant to the condition of Indonesia which is rushing to rise from the COVID-19 pandemic, which has hit for the past 1.5 years, especially in the economic sector.” he said.

On that occasion, Acting Head of Puspresnas Kemdikbud Ristek, Asep Sukmayadi said that 1,679 participants who were divided into 450 teams took part in the 2021 KBMK, representing various regions in Indonesia. Of the 450 teams, they were narrowed down to 88 teams that will compete in the semifinals and finals.

Asep said that KBMK is a manifestation of Drs. Mohammad Hatta, that “the campus is a place for students to develop their initiative and creativity.” Through KBMK 2021, students have the stage to present creative ideas and ideas to relevant stakeholders. In this way, a resilient and adaptive generation can be created in order to face the changing and very dynamic global conditions.

The closing of the 2021 KBMK was carried out by Acting Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC, Ph.D., IPU, Asean Eng. On that occasion, Prof. Nizam praised the courage of the participants to convey their ideas. “This shows that the students have a strong passion and determination to learn to meet the changes in the future. Therefore, the most important thing in this KBMK is the courage of the students to convey their ideas and narratives. The matter of winning or losing is only based on the jury’s assessment.” said Nizam.
