LD FEB UI Researcher: Why Women’s Economic Participation in Indonesia is Still Low?
DEPOK – (25/11/2020) Diahhadi Setyonaluri, Ph.D. (Ruri), a researcher at the Demographic Institute of FEB UI, was one of the speakers in a Webinar held by the UI School of Strategic and Global Studies (SKSG) in commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of VIolence against Women, on November 25, 2020.
Ruri explained the cause of low economic participation by women is based on several studies and analyses that she had conducted. Besides explaining the profiles and trends of women who quit working from various statistical data, she also shared the results of a qualitative study on the dilemma of working women and mothers in big cities. Also according to her, during the COVID-19 pandemic, female workers were also found to experience the impact and “additional burdens” due to the implementation of School from Home (SFH) and Work from Home (WFH).
