For this reason, companies need to implement good corporate governance by involving stakeholders so that business can be sustainable. In its application in the real world, PT Arwana has implemented a green business that makes it the 14th best company in the entire world in its industry. This is evidenced by various awards that have been achieved, one of which is the Green Industry Business Awards.

“Basically, there are three big challenges faced in building Arwana companies, namely, limited capital, getting quality employees, and the difficulty of new products penetrating the market. The company is implementing 3 basic programs of Sustainable Development Goals, namely developing a legal system, providing education, and overcoming poverty (poverty). Companies cannot run for a long period of time if they do not implement sustainability,” said Tandean Rustandy.

Keynote 2: Development Path to Achieve Low-Carbon Economy in Indonesia

The second keynote speaker, Deputy for Maritime and Natural Resources at the Ministry of PPN / Bappenas, Arifin Rudiyanto said that the efforts made to achieve a low-carbon economy in Indonesia require a more innovative approach. In carrying out these efforts, a measuring tool is needed to assess the progress of the success of the business that has been done. Starting from 2020, the indicator used to measure this is the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

Arifin also added five ways that can be pursued in achieving these goals. The five ways are developing renewable energy, conducting land restoration (reforestation), developing green industry, managing waste and implementing economic circular, and blue carbon. However, these efforts need to be supported by the collaborative actions of stakeholders that can be initiated with the low-carbon lifestyle movement. This lifestyle is like traveling using public transportation, planting trees, minimizing the use of plastic products, saving energy and water, and others.
