DEPOK – (15/9/2021) The Wallstreet team from S-1 Accounting students, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Indonesia (FEB UI) class of 2018 won 2nd place in the Investigative Audit category in the National Student Competition in Business, Management and Finance (KBMK) 2021 organized by the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture. Winners will be announced via Zoom, on Wednesday (15/9/2021).

The Wallstreet team, which won 2nd place in the Investigative Audit category at the 2021 KBMK event, consisted of Belinda Azzahra, Gerardine Patricia, and Linda Ariyani, presented a paper on the results of the analysis of audit cases against companies suspected of committing audit violations. Data was obtained from various sources, such as the BPKP module, OJK regulations, and external research from audit journals.

During the competition, the Wallstreet Team was assisted and mentored by Dr. Aria Farah Mita, S.E., M.S.M (supervising lecturer) and Chekat Fahmy Rosyadi, S.ST., M.S.Ak., M.Sc., CRMP (practitioner mentor /professional).

KBMK 2021 is a competition for students to hone investigative auditing skills, improve analytical skills and skepticism, and improve team collaboration and team critical thinking. This competition consists of teams from various universities in Indonesia, such as UI (FEB), UGM, IPB, Trisakti, Udayana, UKDW, and Ahmad Dahlan.

The prerequisites for participating in this competition are active students, meeting administrative requirements (for example regarding the registration requirements for teams and supervisors in the Higher Education Database), number of members per team, and other administrative requirements. In addition, each team must also comply with the regulations so as not to commit plagiarism in the written work.

Belinda Azzahra, said “The most supportive lesson/lesson learned during this competition is definitely solid teamwork from the beginning to the end of the competition. It takes a big commitment because this event is quite long and demanding, and the case is complex. So, the attitude of integrity and resilience that the Wallstreet Team has instilled is to continue to give the best in every stage of the long competition.”

Gerardine Patricia, said the biggest challenge of this competition was having to understand and answer the questions in the case in a very short time. For the grand final, our team was given a case at 19.30, it had to be collected the next day at 05.00, and presented at 09.00. In addition, the case given was in the form of an overview of real cases faced in Indonesia, so it was very challenging to be able to solve cases according to various regulations/regulations. in Indonesia. Meanwhile, for practice, our team read a lot of research on similar cases, practiced delivering short, concise, and clear presentations with the team. Then, practice scientific writing with appropriate audit terminology and be assisted by a mentor.

“We are very grateful for the opportunity to take part in the competition and win. This can be achieved because of the support from FEB UI. Hopefully the knowledge gained during the competition can enrich self-knowledge and be useful for other competition opportunities or future careers,” said Gerardine.

Linda Ariyani, continued “During the competition, the most useful analysis is the analysis of cases given from an investigative audit perspective because it combines basic audit knowledge as well as investigative audit techniques in proving possible irregularities and fraud. Investigative auditing is new for me and our team, so I have to read a lot of reading sources and also get a lot of guidance from supervisors and mentors. In addition, all the teams in this competition have high and good competence and quality. On the other hand, because the presentation cannot be watched by other teams, we also don’t know how the other teams are performing so we can only focus on giving the best for our own team’s performance.”
