Depok – (12/11/2020) The Management Institute of FEB UI, in collaboration with SWA magazine, held an HR Excellence Webinar Series entitled HR Strategy that Supports Fast Growing Business, on Thursday, November 12, 2020. This online event presented Kiki Risyandi, Head of HR Strategic Initiative and Transformation, Sinar Mas Mining (SMM); and discussant Riani Rachmawati, PhD., Senior Consultant LM FEB UI; moderated by Teguh Poeradisastra, Senior Editor of SWA.

The strategy of SMM, which has US $ 20 billion in assets by 2026, cannot be separated from the transformation in the field of HR management. Kiki Risyandi, explained that in this HR transformation, there are four things to focus on. First, through technological empowerment and strong analysis. Second, using innovative and best-in-class ways to optimize all HR capabilities. Third, change management leadership, people, processes and mindsets. Fourth, introducing EVP (Employer Value Propositions) to increase employee engagement. There are many strategies implemented for each focus. The goal is to have an agile organization, have strong halocracy and meritocracy, and be based on accurate big data analytics, decision making systems (using machine learning and Artificial Intelligence) and the Executive Information System.

“At SMM, we do not only focus on creating shareholder value but deliver a meaningful impact for society and have confidence in doing business for good. We don’t just hire employees, but we recognize their potential and invest in creating leaders. We do not only embrace technology, but lead technological innovation to shape the future,” said Kiki Risyandi.

In the future, it is hoped that there will be digital HR career training using artificial intelligence, alignment of culture, also values and competencies, so that talents have the same culture and values in other business units, and mobility of talents from all business units.

Riani Rahmawati, Ph.D., Senior Consultant of LM FEB UI, discussed Kiki Risyandi’s explanation on SMM which was considered to have an objective and exponential business. According to Riani, a leader who has an agile character is needed. The role of HR has now changed from a business partner to a game changer, that is finding potential talents that will be developed into professionals with multi talented abilities (those who could pursue job opportunities in more than one job-family, are able to experience and adapt all aspects of the company to market speed and competitive changes, as well as creating new breakthroughs).

Riani added that there are several strategic HR tools such as strategy map (the relationship between company strategy and what HR is doing), HR Scorecard (to measure the success and achievement of HR programs) and digital dashboard (using big data and HR analytics based on artificial intelligence).
